Waddaya Mean No Profiling

By Al Thomas

I went into Miss Napolitano’s office the other day with about 6 other guys and told them I wanted a job. The lady said, “Fill out these papers”.

I said, “Wait a minute. That’s profiling.” She argued it wasn’t, but let’s examine the facts.

At the airport when I went through the security line they randomly selected people for additional inspection. No one had to fill out any papers and be screened to determine who was a greater risk. It was random. Why not out of the 6 guys who walked into Napolitano’s office didn’t they just point to one person and say, “You’re hired”?

Isn’t job screening a form of profiling?

When a job application is completed it gives a detailed description of what the person is capable of doing. Isn’t that a profile?

When we look back on the people who have committed the terror attacks on our country there seems to be a very clear profile. Arabs in the mid-twenties is a broad stroke that identifies more than 90% of terrorists. Why then are old ladies and elderly businessmen routinely being searched when those who fit the terrorist profile are ignored?

Doesn’t anyone in government understand their job is to protect the entire group by eliminating the potential dangerous suspects? How long can political correctness go on that allows thousands of people to be targets?

State police on the highways from Florida to New York are no longer allowed to stop a vehicle because it is driven by an Hispanic even if the car or truck seems suspiciously overloaded.

The one bit of advice I can give to those who might fit the suspicious profile is, “Get over it”. This is being done to protect the innocents (and them) and as long as you are innocent be thankful authorities are doing their job.

We live in a time where being overly polite can cause many people to be killed. Our enemies have no rules of engagement. They are willing to kill themselves in order to kill you. Offending the sensibilities of a few who are not terrorists doesn’t bother me in the least. When this war is over we can apologize.

Apologize. YUK. When some government official or big shot corporate executive says something stupid in public they give one of those phony apologies. More Washington nonsense.

When I said again to the lady in Napoltano’s off she should randomly pick one of us to be hired. She said they had to inspect our applications to see if we were qualified. Still sounds like profiling to me.

Washington has one set of rules for themselves and another for us citizens outside the Beltway. We used to be equal.

I didn’t get the job.
